Shadow hears her.
"Roxas?" he mutters to himself and darts off in pursuit.
He just wanted to know that it was indeed her. Though their romance was over, he didn't care for her any less than when they were together. It was probably what made their friendship so successful.

The form walked towards a stream, lapping the cool water. It's marking were truly black and red, the old Xana symbol scarred with claw marks. It looked like a wolf, and it's form seemed to have been hurt, just nearly finished healing. The animal, if it could be called that, hear the sound of Shadow's steps, and ignored them, more interested in drinking the water.
Siara watched Shadow take off and shrugged, going towards the school.

Shadow sees Roxas drinking at the stream and sits down nearby, but not beside her.
"It's been a few months since we last talked," he states off-handedly. "You had me worried, Roxas."
He grins a friendly grin to her, though his soul is smiling lovingly.

Roxas looks at Shadow, licking her jaws free of the water. Her old Xana mark was on the front of her black and red chest, the fur clotted with blood here and there. "Time flies when he comes back," she commented without a second look at Shadow. She laid by the water and licked her legs, trying to rid them of te blood splatters from lyoko.
"How did you realize it was me?"

"Ara called you 'Mom,'" he tells her. "It was obvious after that. Besides, we've been out of contact for a few months now. What went wrong? Or were you unable to contact me for so long?"
He looks at her, a mischievous grin on his face. He had no intention of doing anything INTIMATE. No, he knew she was for Ash, and even if he didn't want to admit it, he did have to accept it.

Roxas looks at him and shrugs. "With the whole factor Siara and Hector were going to Kadic, it was hectic for a while. It's nice to know you're doing well, though," she said and looked at the moon. It didn't seem to have it's loving embrace to her anymore. "I strayed from her," Roxas says quietly, almost as if speaking to herself. "I gave up on the moon, and the moon mother, but I gained powers beyond those of the moon. I'll always have a bit of pain when I step into sunlight, but the sunset's embrace seems to be a dawning of a new era," she said. It was something she rarely did; speak out like that. But she only did it when she felt it had to be said, or if it came to mind.
"Time changes people, and it does like to play tricks on the older."

"At least you haven't forgotten her in your venture," he says seriously, his wisdom tone now in use.

"Venture? Come on, Shadow. I've already admitted it to myself that Once Xana's defeated, there's not much use left in me to the old gang. With the new pups coming in, we have to teach them a few things. After that... I don't know what life will bring. I do know that in time, I will see what my path has waiting for me after this adventure. It could be death, or it could be a completely new road I've yet to see." Roxas's tone was different, almost broken. Being in lyoko after all the years and being forced to hurt her own children had brought down the pain of it all. Why she seemed like this, it was unsure. Xana had taken control of her a few times, and it scared Roxas that she was unable to fight against him. It was in her eyes that behind her words were fears that she didn't even understand.
it was one reason she hadn't wanted shadow to see her.
She was a nearly-broken wolf, scared that she would harm anyone and everyone she cared for, be it friends, like Shadow, or lovers, like Ashlyn.

While Roxas didn't understand what it would be like to harm a person or people one cared about, Shadow understood. He understood more than anyone could ever guess. He got up, walked over to her, squatted so he was at her level, and placed a hand on her back just under the neck.
"You'll be fine," he tells her gently. "You have me, you have..." he hesitated, "...Ash," he finally finished, "Trust me, you'll be fine."

Roxas looked Shadow into his eyes and snorted lightly before looking down at her paws. "I hope you're right. I know I have you guys, but I... I'm scared that I'll hurt any of you. I already hurt bad enough for harming Siara when I did on lyoko," she confessed, wiping her tears away that were falling silently. The wolf wasn't who she used to be, and she knew it. "I just know that I'll end up killing someone yet."
In the gold and blue orbs, deep regret showed. "I've got you all, but..." she grew silent. "I just guess I've lost my way since I hurt Siara."

Shadow lifts her head to look her in the eyes. Shadow's eyes, from how Roxas saw it, were tired and yet still full of caring and compassion. Shadow saw fear and some paranoia in Roxas' eyes, he then wraps his arms around her neck, like a close friend would. He then begins to sing this song, which he was taught long ago. Here, a goddess of happiness cries. An endless, timeless lullaby. Sings a song of the dream she has. The sadness fills her eyes.
End of love. Love is gone. No more dreams to dream about, so life is done.
If it's sewn, cut the thread. It's time to let it go.
Tears, they flow to the thirst of the gods. The ocean's roars drowned out by rain. Blameless wolf carries on alone. The silence now surrounds him.
Sooner than... dreaming ends. Morning of the dawn will bring another day.
Turn around, you have found... ...a different place to dream.
Shadow sways as he sings, as if rocking an infant.

Roxas closes her eyes, letting her tears come. she doesn't fall asleep, but did't know what to say. He was her best friend, and he was giving this much out of his own time to make the regretted wolf realize she had people who cared for her. She pulls away after he was finished with his song and looked at the moon, still not feeling the gaze of love. She let out a mournful howl, one she had not released since the first time around, when she had lost her son, Daemien, to the fires created by Xavier.
Siara hears the song, and howls to the stars with her mother. Soon, many animals were crying out with Roxas and Siara. Shadow was welcomed to join in, to release the pain. Roxas spoke in the howl, singing a song she knew and that seemed to reflect the wolf.
Hold it together. Birds of a feather. Nothing but lies and crooked wings. I have the answer. Spreading the cancer. You are the faith inside me. No, Don't, leave me to die here. Help me survive here, alone. Don't Remember! Remember!
Put me to sleep, Evil Angel. Open your wings, Evil Angel.
I'm a believer. Nothing could be worse. All these imaginary friends. Hiding betrayal. Driving the nail. Hoping to find a savior. No, don't, leave me to die here. Help me survive here, alone. Don't Surrender! Surrender!
Pure heart was in the song, and Roxas would be damned if Ash and Marty wouldn't have heard that song.

Shadow releases Roxas, stands, steps back, and lets out a loud demonic roar, this roar filled with sorrow, and all who heard it were reduced to tears, engulfed by their own sorrow.

Roxas stops the howl after a few minutes and pants, catching her breath. She collapsed onto her stomach and watched the sky as birds took flight.
Siara dropped to her knees and watched the stars. A soft spell was said under her breath, and quickly, Siara stood and headed towards the factory. She said the spell as she ran.
"Power of the strong, power of the weak, Let us not be wrong, Or shall we be nothing but a streak?
Kill him, We must, To unsure the lives of all we trust!"
Roxas watched the birds and growled, standing. Xana's mark appeared in their eyes and they flew towards Shadow and Roxas. She roared and ran. "Shadow, come on!" she commanded, the old Roxas showing again. "We don't want these little bastards to snag us, do we?" she asked jokingly.

Shadow smirks, and darts off for the factory
"Try to keep up!" he calls, laughing as he goes.

Roxas smirked at Shadow and ran beside him. Her symbol glowed a few times, signaling for sure that Xana was pissed off.
In her eyes leaked crimson a few times, but the wolf blood in Roxas quickly forced his control attempt out.
Siara jumped the gap and panted, heading inside the factory. She quickly gets onto the computer and checked for an active tower.

Shadow sees the crimson leaking into Roxas, and was grateful when she forced it out of her. He did not want to have to fight her after what they had just gone through. They reach the factory and find Siara already at the computer.
"Set up a virtualization for two," he tells Siara. "Roxas, let's get going."
He backs into the elevator, waits for Roxas, and presses the switch to go down into the scanner room. The two take separate scanners.
"Just like old times, eh?" he says, waiting for the process to begin.

Roxas merely rolled her eyes and smiled as the doors shut.
Siara sent them to lyoko without hesitation. "Dammit, I wish it wasn't so late at night. There's no way I can get ahold of any others, so it'll have to be you two against whatever Xana's put up while I try to undo the tower's activation." Siara explained. Roxas chuckled and landed on lyoko's Ocean sector. She shook her fur and looked around, waiting on Shadow.
