Eventually the Krabes are defeated. Shadow recognizes the stranger as the one Kontou was fighting.
"Titarus, I presume?" he asks.

Damn, he thinks.
Titarus had called him out. He can't say he chatted with Kontou, since Titarus would just call him a liar, and he had no evidence to use. Only one thing left.
"I watched you and that other guy fight," he says. "What was it you told him? 'the world is ending and there is nothing you can do' right?"

"He told me nothing," he says. "I didn't speak with him. After you two fought, I went back to walking in the forest, and then the Krabes attacked."
