First Meeting
Purple eyes watched a small snake in the grass slither around. A smile crossed the features of the owner of the purple orbs. "Beautiful," was commented by the orb-owner. The owner's brunette hair fell over her shoulders, much like a horse's mane would. The wind blew just so gently, and the person looked at the direction of the wind, her gentle complexion getting a light pink tint to it from the rays of sunrise. She followed a small rocky trail, her eyes watching her step. Old wolf pints were seemingly engraved in the ground. When the girl stepped, her shoes would slightly sink from a light mud. She shook off her shoes once she stepped into dry grass under a tree. The girl rose her head and howled, much like a wolf, sounding a bit squeaked, but still strong. A voice spoke to her quietly, saying "Siara, Siara, Siara..." into her ears as she howled. The girl opened her eyes. "I am her; what is it you wish, great ones?" she replied, purple eyes watching her surroundings. "Siara... follow," was said back from the wind. She felt the wind push against her, and she followed it upwind, her eyes closing; she knew not the path or hills, but trusted this voice. She soon found herself at a small crossroads.
"Where will you go?" the voices asked. "Take the smoothest path, or the rougher road?" Siara opened her eyes, weighing the choices. If she took the smoother course, it could lead her to a place she wouldn't want to be. Yet, the rougher road would be less traveled and harsher. "Maybe they have something much bigger planned for me," Siara said quietly. She looked at the harsher road, nodding.
"It is time!" the voices repeated in her ears from the wind, laughing voices. Siara stood strong and walked to the harsh path, after a few feet, she saw it dropped off to a river. She nodded, knowing. She saw a canoe and got into it, stroking the water as she pushed off and into the water that turned from gentle to harsh and rough.
After a time, Siara caught sight of a boy in the water. She gasped in shock and took her necklace off, putting it in the canoe. She put the paddle in the canoe with her necklace and jumped into the water. Siara dived down, her heart leading her body into a full-body change. She changed into a white and blue colored wolf, snatching the boy from the water with her fangs. She pulled the boy to her canoe and tossed him in. She coughed, pulling herself up, back into the form of a human, as she had been before.
Siara tumbled to the boy, checking his breathing. She pressed his chest, attempting to make the boy breath. she closed his nose and put her lips to his, breathing into his lungs. She puled away and attempted three times, pressing his chest afterwords. The boy coughed up water, turning onto his side and throwing up water. Siara sighed in relief. "You alright?" she asked, still catching her own breath. She caught sight of the boy's eyes, they were such a deep color, they seemed like pure gems. She saw him looking directly into her own eyes. He nodded, not breaking their gaze. "Yeah... you... saved me?" he asked, and Siara smiled, nodding. He smiled back in thanks and hugged her, causing Siara to blush.
Listen to your heart, you will understand... was spoken on the wind, and the boy seemed to hear it as well. He looked around after pulling away, but keeping his arms around her.
You know your path! Now follow it! Siara heard, spoken directly into her ears. The boy looked at her, and Siara blushed lightly. He blushed lightly, turning his head when he realized he was staring. Siara nudged him with her cheek; "I'm Siara," she said to him in his ear, making him turn his head. Siara smiled and he blushed. "I'm... Marty." he said, and Siara watched his eye's movements. She pulled something out of her pocket, handing it to him. "Here, I found this near you." She placed a necklace in his palm, and as she did this he looked up at her from their hands. Siara smiled and felt the wind blow a pattern around their hands. She removed her hand, letting him see what she had handed him. He smiled at seeing a symbol in a rope necklace. "Thanks," he said and slipped it on. Siara smiled at Marty, nodding. "You mind if I ask what happened?" she asked him, looking out to the water. It oddly had calmed. "I was practicing a bit of swimming and, well, I really didn't feel the shift in the water," he admitted. Siara nodded; "The water can do that." she agreed. She realized how close they really were and blushed. "I'll take you upriver, so we can at least get dried off. I have a jacket under you that you can use for now, to keep your body heat in," she said and felt her heart. It was pumping harshly, and she calmed it with a few words. Marty looked at her as she did this, intrigued. "What did you do?" he asked. "You were really flushed a minute ago, and now you're, well..." he trailed off. Siara smiled. "That's my little secret, Mar," she said and winked at him. She didn't feel her pentagram necklace and sighed. "Can you look under your seat? I think that I have my necklace under there. It's kind of a security in itself," she said to him. Marty nodded and looked under the seat, finding a black jacket and a pentagram necklace. He looked at the necklace, interested. "This your secret?" he asked, and looked at her. Siara shrugged. "It could be. I'm not revealing anything," she said and laughed; Marty grinned. "Yeah, I guess it could be," he joked. "Thank you, for saving me, Siara."
Siara smiled, nodding; "It's nothing." she replied. Siara picked up the paddle and stroked the canoe through the water as Marty shook off the water on him. They talked of their lives, their family, and who they were to each other on the way upriver. Siara, after finding the place she had came onto the river at, smiled and stood. "Come on, Marty. Let's get you back to Kadic," she said, offering ehr hand to him. He nodded and smiled, taking her hand. Se smiled back and nodded, stepping out of the canoe. She helped him out, a gentle chuckle heard from Siara when Marty nearly fell. "You're a tenderfoot, aren't you?" she asked, helping him onto the grass. He blushed. He watched her, still finding himself intrigued by this girl who had saved his life. Her necklace was a sense of security, she had told him, because it was her mother's. He understood, and oddly he found himself wanting to know more and more about this girl. She was a bit shy, but she was very gentle and kind.
"Mar?" Siara asked, and Marty shook his thoughts away. "Huh? Oh, sorry," he said and Siara shook her head."You're fine. Come on, I'll show you back to Kadic. You can dry off in my dorm, since the girls dorms are faster to get to." she said, and he nodded. God, I've fallen for her, he thought as she led him back to Kadic, cutting through the woods. He watched her footing; it seemed to be used to being in nature. "Why were you out there, Siara?" he asked after a while of thinking. She smiled; "I followed the wind," she replied. Marty looked at her, a bit confused. "You followed the wind and found me?" Siara chuckled; "Yes, exactly. They speak if you only listen, Marty." he looked at her and listened tot he wind. "Is that how you know where you're going right now?" "No," Siara replied with a smile, "I go through here daily." "Oh." Marty looked down, a bit embarrassed. "It's okay, don't worry." she said and smiled at him, and Marty smiled back, feeling reassured somehow. God... I am in love, he thought with a smile as she led him to her dorm.
Siara opened the door, letting him inside. "You can dry off and I'll be right back. I'm going to get you something to eat. We were traveling in the canoe for quite a while," she said, walking out of her room and heading towards the cafeteria. Marty smiled and looked around. A few posers were up; one was with a wolf howling on a mountain, and another was just of some scenery. "Nature lover, huh?" he wondered and he saw a picture of her and another boy. She was grinning, and the boy was holding her to him for the picture. Marty felt his heart shatter. "Hector? She's Hector's girl?" he asked himself. He opened the picture frame and looked at the back. "To my children, always and forever, Love your mother." he recited off the back. "So... Hector's her brother? God, that's a relief," he said and put the photo back. He cracked his back and looked around a bit more. After finishing his explorations, he dried off and sat on the edge of her bed.
Siara walked in with two brown bags, both she got from her brother. "Here, Mar. Hec snatched them for us," she explained and Marty nodded, taking the bag he was offered. He opened it and ate silently. Siara sat down at her computer and started typing, grabbing Marty's attention. "What's up?" he asked. Siara looked at him, smiling. "Nothing, just sending an email to my Dad." Marty nodded and watched her type. "You use computers a lot?" "Yeah," she replied. "most of my classes are working with computers and photography." she explained. Marty nodded and finished his food, noticing she hadn't touched hers. "You feel sick?" he asked, and Siara looked at him, confused on where his question came from. "No, I'm fine, why?" she asked, turning from the computer and looking towards him. "You didn't eat at all," he said. Siara chuckled. "It's alright; I skip most of my meals when I'm not hungry." she said and he nodded. "Alright." he said back and Siara sighed at him with a chuckle. "Get some rest and I'll take you up to your dorm once it gets past 12, ok?" she explained to him and he smiled. He nodded and laid down on her bed, falling asleep quickly. After a little while, he felt her lay down next to him. He smiled and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer. Siara looked at him and blushed, nuzzling her pillow and falling asleep. He wished greatly it had been him she had nuzzled, but he knew somehow her trust needed to be gained way before that.
