The return of the dead

[Titan]

Prologue

In 2025, a sole survivor managed to find two other survivors and took them to a pick-up point, where he selflessly led a massive horde of zombies away so the other survivors could escape. This caused him to become trapped in a city that was full of dead things wanting revenge.

The two survivors got to the community and soon found out life in the community was worse than life surrounded by millions of zombies. The two planned a cunning escape and managed to get out of the community, returning to the city in search of the person that saved them...

Titan walks across the roof of an old apartment building. He looks through his scope, then pulls his head back and walks to the other side. Things had begun to grow boring in the city, mainly because he began to get used to seeing dead people every five feet.

The sight of blood has gotten old as well. What used to make him vomit, now gives him a thrill as small as the thrill of a rerun on television. Titan looks down through the scope and sees two shadows running across an alleyway. No zombie ran as fast as those shadows were. He has found other survivors.

Chapter 1

Bruce and Ashley walk down an alleyway, both starting to lose faith. "We have been here for a week and we haven't found him yet." Bruce says out of nowhere, "How do we even know he is alive?" Ashley looks at him and sighs, "We have to have faith that the moment at the helipad wasn't his final moment." Bruce nodds and continues to look down the alley way.

Bruce hears a very small noise, but ignores it believing he is just hearing thing. Ashley looks around, not sure if she heard anything. A ladder to an emergency exit railing falls. Ashley jumps, but Bruce springs forward in case of an attack. While they are watching the ladder, another noise comes from behind them.

Another ladder falls, this time a man rides it down, "Freeze!" He yells, aiming a gun at Ashley and Bruce. Bruce stops dead in his tracks, Ashley thinks she remembers the voice. She slowly turns her head around, "Titan!" She yells, turning around fully. Bruce turns around as well, with a smug smile on his face.

"Ashley? Bruce? What the he-- are you two doing back here?" Titan asks the two. "That community was worse than a prison, so we escaped and came back here looking for you." Ashley explains, with a slight feeling of accomplishment. "It was like a prison, but you were safe. You didn't even know if I was still alive." Titan replies. Bruce steps in, "Oh, we had faith you were still alive." Titan grunts at the comment and walks past them.

"Come on, you can stay with me again until I can get you two back to safety." Titan says, motioning them to follow him. They both do so, fairly quickly. Ashley wanted to tell Titan who she really was, but this wasn't the right time. They head back the building that Titan was staying in. It was now a full hotel, with various different saferooms.

Chapter 2

Titan sits on his couch, laying his head on the headrest of it. He is watching old movies, which is what he always did during the night. Tonight he was watching "Marley & Me", which he still thought was the saddest movie ever made. After "Marley and Me" ended he was going to watch "I am Legend".

Ashley walks in and sits down, "So you like sad movies?" She asks, remember that Danny had said he cried when he saw "Marley and Me". "It reminds me that i'm still alive. This movie is the only thing that gets close to making me cry anymore." Titan replies, watching the movie deathly.

Ashley grabs "I am Legend" and looks at it, not saying anything about. "Same concept, different enemies." Titan says, watching the box out of his peripherals, "Nobody saw this coming. Dinosaurs and Skeletons, it just wasn't able to be expected." He says, taking a deep breathe as the ending of the movie nears.

Ashley watches the movie, the first time she saw this she cried also. A lot of people cried when they saw this. "They get you emotionally attached to the dog." Titan says out of nowhere. Bruce walks out into the room after finishing his shower. "So where are we going tomorrow?" He asks, jumping on the couch next to Ashley.

"We are leaving this city. The zombies are getting out of hand and we need to leave." Titan says, laying down on the couch, "Get some sleep long day tomorrow, I can promise you that." He says, looking at the car keys sitting next to the door. Ashley and Bruce slip into their bedrooms and off into sound slumber.

Chapter 3

Titan walks to the area where Ashley and Bruce's rooms sit. He takes a breathe and prepares himself, "Get up!" He says, into both rooms at the same time. Ashley and Bruce get up simultaneously, "Breakfast is ready." Titan says, walking back to the kitchen. Bruce is the first one in the kitchen, Ashley follows shortly. They all fix their plates and begin to eat.

Titan stares out the window at the thousands of zombies on the ground. It was hard to believe the world would probably never be the same again. Every day their population grew while ours shrunk. Dinosaurs, cats, wolves, lions, snakes were all different zombies that had been brought back. The infection was far worse than anybody could have ever forsaw.

Titan picks up the car keys and heads down the stairs. Bruce and Ashley were following diligently, not saying anything. The journey down the stairs was the safest and quickest part of the journey ahead. Titan knew this, he wasn't sure if Bruce and Ashley did. They get to the bottom of the stairs and Titan begins to unlock the big metal door.

Titan opens the door and heads a car, it was an old car, Bruce knew what it was but couldn't exactly name it. Titan gets in, Bruce and Ashley get in on the other side. "What kind of car is this?" Bruce asks as he gets into the vehicle. "Its a 2008 challenger. Not the best car, but the best I could find." He says, starting the engine. Bruce sits up front and Ashley gets the back seat all to herself.

Titan puts his foot on the pedal and the car zooms down the road. "I have been fixing it for the last year." He says, turning a corner onto a highway. He would swurve to avoid zombies now that he had room too. They could hear the screech of a pterodactyl chasing different birds up in the sky. "Where are we going?" Ashley asks, sitting behind the passenger side of the car. "A survivor camp in Kansas." Titan says, staying quiet after finishing the sentence.

Chapter 4

The car stays quiet for what seemed like the longest time. Eventually Bruce speaks up, "A survivor camp? They are like prison! We told you that." He says loudly across the car. Titan grows aggravated, "Yeah! Well it is better than being in the city where your life can be ended in a split second." Ashley sits there, watching the two argue.

Bruce shuts up and looks out the window, they swerve and he almost rams into it. He sees a large group of zombies as they drive by, which kept him from yelling at Titan again. The thought of going back to a camp like that made Bruce's gut hurt. He hated the place more than anything else, but he was being forced to go back.

They had to swerve a lot. Ashley was freaked out, not knowing which person to side with. She knew Titan had a good point about being safe, but Bruce had a good point with it being prison. It was her boyfriend versus one of her best friends since middle school. She decided to stay nuetral, best not to try and take sides.

Titan looks at the two and sighs, swerving to avoid a large group of zombies. He had to make sure they were safe, but didn't want to be taking them to a prison. He prays that the society won't be as bad as they say it is. He is about to say something, but suddenly he jerks the steerin g wheel and the car flips offroad. Something had gotten in the way.

Chapter 5

Titan climbs out and coughs, Ashley follows shortly after and Bruce gets out on the other side. "Everybody okay?" Ashley asks, wiping dirt of her top. Titan looks around and sighs, "Something big hit us." He says, pulling the gun out from the tipped car. "Guess we are going the rest of the way on foot." Bruce groans at the words, 'on foot'. Titan looks around, "Well, lets get to it." He says, walking to the north through the forest.

The three walk at a moderate pace through the thick forest. They here all kinds of scary noises that freak them out. Ashley almost yells at a couple of times. "I am amazed we havent been attacked yet." Bruce says, following behind Ashley. TItan looks around, "So am I." He says. Titan had his gun ready at all times, in case of an ambush. Ashley begins to grow tired, "Can we take a short break?"

The three sit down on a rock and take a breather. A twig breaking gets Ashley's attention, provoking her fear. She looks around, then back at Titan and Bruce. A screech is heard from behind them. Titan jumps up and and draws his gun, "Who is there?" He yells at the top of his lungs. A group of velociraptors run out of the brush. "Sh--!" Titan yells, "Run!" He yells, shooting at the group.

Bruce takes the lead, Ashley follows and Titan brings up the rear shooting. One gets up to him, he jams it in the eye and unloads a few rounds in. The velociraptor falls, and he runs to catch up with Ashley and Bruce. Bruce stops immediatly and looks back, seeing four more velociraptors chasing them. Titan catches up, "Stay with Ashley and keep running!" Titan yells shooting at the running demons.

Bruce nodds and runs after Ashley. Titan looks back at them. "Come on bi---es." He says, unloading rounds into the group. Two velociraptors falls and the other two pick up speed. The two velociraptors come closer and closer, drawing in a hundred yards. Titan gets down to his last clip. He hears ashley scream and Bruce yell a word that meant 'poop'. TItan curses under his breathe as the Velociraptors draw close. Right as the velociraptors draw within 20 yards of TItan, two figures jump out and his the monsters.

Titan watches, two zombie wolves jumped out and hit the velociraptors. TItan turns around and runs to Ashley and Bruce's position. When he gets there he sees a hand hanging off a ledge and Bruce backed into a corner by two velociraptors. "Help!" Ashley yells, trying to pull herself up. Titan looks over the edge, "Give me your hand!" He yells. "Help Bruce!" She replies, losing her footing. Titan looks over at Bruce then back at her, "Ashley! Give me your hand!"

Ashley sees Titan back off. He looks at the velociraptors, "Hey! Bring it!" He yells. One turns around and runs at him. Titan picks up a branche and smacks it in the head. The monster's head flies off the cliff. He throws the branch to Bruce. Bruce pushes the velociraptor off the edge and falls to his knees. Titan reaches down to help Ashley up again. "Ashley! Now!" He yells. Ashley goes to grab his hand, but loses her grip.

Ashley closes her eyes, then opens them again, to see Titan hanging off the cliff hanging onto one of her arms with both of his. He was beginning to slip and was already more than halfway off the cliff. "Let me go!" ashley yells, "Or we'll both fall." Titan hangs on, "No!" He yells. Ashley yells her first phrase again. Titan shakes his head. Ashley grows aggrivated, "Save yourself!" She yells. "No, Lizzy!" Titan yells.

Bruce and Ashley both look at Titan, "You know?" Ashley asks, looking up at him. Titan begins to pull himself back up. "When did you find out?" She asks. TItan pulls her up and pops his knuckles, "When i first saved you from those zombies. How long were you planning to play that game with me? Huh, Shawn?" Titan looks at Bruce. "I don't know." Lizzy says.

Chapter 6

After about an hour of talking, Titan seems to have forgiven Lizzy and Shawn for the lies they told. 'Ashley' and 'Bruce' weren't going out, not since they broke up in middle school. The long journey was about halfway done, but the worst was yet to come. Nobody knew it.

Titan sees the end of the forest line. "There, then it is only a ten minute walk to the safe zone." The three near the edge when another roar is heard. Titan had only heard the roar once before, when he faced the t-rex the year before. "Run. Run!" Titan yells, giving them a starting shove.

Lizzy is the first to near the edge, a velociraptor jumps out and bites her leg. Titan runs up and unloads two rounds into the monster's head. "Come on!" Titan yells, Bruce helps Ashley up. He helps her begin to limp. The roar is heard again and a group of trees falling.

A t-rex was found a few years back. It was a really rare dinosaur, completely incased in ice. The monster's skin and everything was intact. When it got infected, the truck driving it through Oklahoma was destroyed by the t-rex itself. The dinosaur steps out and stares at Titan, Lizzy, and Shawn.

"Run!" Titan yells shooting at the t-rex. "No!" Shawn yells this time, surprisingly concerned. "Run!" Titan repeats grabbing another gun off his back. "No!" Both Lizzy and Shawn yell. "Run right now!" Titan yells unloading three shots at their feet. Shawn jumps, and begins to force Lizzy away. "Don't look back!" Titan yells turning to the t-rex. More velociraptors show up.

The sound of gunshots stop. Lizzy looks back and then forward again. Titan was just reloading. Shawn turns his head around, and sees a velociraptor jump and bite Titan's leg. Titan shoots the beast and begins to scoot away. Shawn turns around and hopes for the best. Feeling Lizzy jump out of his arms.

Titan looks back and sees Lizzy trying to crawl her way to Titan. He hits the ground and then pulls something out of his pocket. He sees his wife appear in the distance. She is smiling and waving at him. Titan waves back, "I-." He begins to say, but then realizes where he was. "I'll see you soon!" She yells, blowing a kiss to Titan. Titan had know idea if he was going crazy, but he knew what he had to do.

Lizzy crawls to Titan one pull at a time. She sees him pull something out of his pocket and breathe on it. Shawn sees it to and tries to see, a round object, probably a flash grenade. Lizzy sees Titan pull something off of it then hold it tight. Shawn runs by, ready to help him up. Titan throws the object in the air just as the t-rex gets above him. Shawn falls backwards at the frag grenade exploding.

Lizzy feels a liquid falling down her cheek as Shawn picks her up and begins to carry her away. They run through a long dark tunnel. The only thing they could see was a light at the entrance where they came. Shawn was holding in the pain, but they finally arrive at the safe zone. They walk up to the entrance, "names?" Lizzy and Shawn look at each other, "Bruce and Ashley." The gate opens and they head in.

Epilogue

The safe zone Bruce and Ashley arrived at was not like the other one. It was an entire city, full of other happy survivors. After that, Bruce and Ashley went their different ways. They saw each other occasionally but both got seperate families and carried on life normally.

A couple of years later, the cure for the virus was found. IT was also able to be spread through the air. They launched it in multiple satellites that spread the cure around the world. The bodies took a year to clean up. After that, the world population was decreased to a mere hundred million. The governments were put back together, same as before.

Life went on as normal, Ashley lived to be a good eighty years old, with two kids and four grand children. She was a famous singer and lived what was once Tulsa. She bought a spot and built a statue for Danny. Bruce lived to be 68. He had four kids, and became a game designer creating the world's best game, titled the revenge of the dead.
