Danny and Lizzy:
The True Ending
So, you though Danny and Lizzy was over? That is so not true! Danny and Lizzy never had a true ending. Many of the stories were made up. Only one or two were actually true. (Dr. Seuss is ftw!) This story however is based completely off of true events that actually took place. This is Danny and Lizzy as it actually happened. This is the true ending of Danny and Lizzy.
12 days until the end of the year
Danny sits in the gym. Today was going to be the best day of the year. They were going to the biggest museum, and possibly the funnest place, in the state, the science museum (it really is fun). Shawn arrives and the two begin to converse. Lizzy arrives about twenty minutes later and joins the conversation.
Shawn and Lizzy broke up five months ago in early January. They stayed friends afterwards. Lizzy started dating a guy shortly after who will remain unnamed. They have been dating for five months and it seems like it might end soon. The guy has been ignoring Lizzy for the past week and might be cheating on her.
Danny pulls out his camera for a second and smiles, "This is gonna be awesome." He says, tucking the camera back in his front pocket. Shawn nods, "Yeah! Tire attack 2!" He exclaims loudly. Shawn and Danny high five and Lizzy just sat there confused. "When we went to the omniplex last year we made a video called tire attack. It's time for a sequel." Danny explains.
Students go through first house, and then head to the cafeteria for a pre-field trip talk. Danny and Lizzy sit next to each other and talk about random stuff like bananas. Vinh takes a picture of the two talking with his camera and shows it to them. He finds it funny and shows it to other people who also find it funny. Danny never figures out why it is funny.
The bus ride over there was short and fun. They were all on the same bus, Vinh, Shawn, Lizzy, and Danny. Lizzy sits in the front with her friends and Danny sits in the back with Shawn and Vinh. Danny had a pack of twizzlers in his hoodie pocket, which Lizzy finds out about halfway through the bus ride. When the bus stops at the omniplex, Lizzy runs to the back of the bus and tries to grab them. Danny gets into a beetle position and yells that he has been violated. They were just messing around, though.
The omniplex was really fun, except the holocaust exhibit they went to see which was really sad. Danny got twenty-four videos from the omniplex. After the omniplex they went to McDonalds where Lizzy dubbed Danny a saint for sharing his twizzlers. They return to the school after McDonalds and hang out in the cafeteria until they have to leave.
10 days until the end of the year
Danny sits in the gym talking to Shawn. Lizzy shows up at the usual time, except sadder. She had broken up with the unnamed boyfriend the night before and she was really sad about it. People show up and help to comfort her. Danny just sits there and before long they are released from the gym. He realizes right then he hadn't said a word to Lizzy in the gym.
Danny walks to third hour and looks around. Lizzy wasn't there. She shows up late to class and seemed happier then before. Danny feels good that she is happy again, but can't help but feel sort of bad for not trying to help. The students get into groups and work on a math project. Before long the entire day is done, Danny can't help but realize that he had only said one thing to Lizzy all day, "Hi."
That night Danny sees Lizzy on Myspace and clicks "Send message." And right then he felt the same feeling he had felt 7 months before. The day he first sent Lizzy a message on Myspace that sealed what would become their friendship. The feeling throughout the messaging feels the same as back when they first became best friends. The only difference is that in ten days they would go three months without seeing each other, but hopefully would still talk throughout the time. Danny goes to sleep that night feeling better than he usually does.
9 days to the end of the year
This day was a pretty empty day. Once again Danny said nothing to Lizzy in the gym. Something was special about this day, though. This day was the first day in five months Danny did not wear a hoodie. Not many people noticed, though a lot of people did notice he had worn a hoodie every day for the last five months.
Today, they did have an athletics award ceremony, so Danny didn't pay much attention. About halfway through the ceremony Lizzy asks Danny how he is doing and tells him she likes his shirt, then continues to pay attention for her friend's names to be called. That was basically all that happened that day. Everybody found out their old math teacher was coming back from her pregnancy leave, a lot of people were sad. The new math teacher was pretty cool.
8 days to the end of the year
Danny sits in the gym, his stomach aching. He was really nervous and time was going by very slow. He finally has enough guts to ask Lizzy out, after developing feelings for her for the last five months. The time goes by pretty slow. Eventually people begin to show up. Danny knows she will be appearing soon, and then she does.
The second Lizzy steps into the gym door, the pain from Danny's stomach changes from his stomach to a fast beating in his heart. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. He feels something nudge his back, the guy sitting behind him points at her. Lizzy was standing in front of them. Danny sighs and when Lizzy stops talking he looks at her and takes a deep breath. Beat. Beat. Beat. "Lizzy." Beat. Beat. Beat. "Will you go out with me?" Lizzy didn't hear him. "Will you go out with me?" Danny says louder. Everything goes silent. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. His heart is beating at the speed of light. Then a phrase ends the eternity of silence, "I'm not ready to date anybody yet." She says. Danny nods; he didn't mind at least he finally asked.
Danny didn't care he just got rejected. He still acted the same, he and Lizzy were still friends, and now he had a newfound respect for himself. However, when Danny got to first hour he felt an overwhelming sadness. Why do I care so much? I shouldn't be this sad just for being rejected. Danny thinks to himself staying silent while the teacher goes on and on and on about god knows what.
