I agree with Ash, the creators of that game can consider themselves lucky that Square Enix didn't sue. Square Enix could have sued them for millions of dollars on copyright infringement. It is copyright infringement and it is a form of pirating games.
It really would not have killed the people to email square enix BEFORE they started on the game to get permission so they wouldn't have wasted all that time on the game.

Plus your getting obsessed about it. Not really, just putting word around. Also, you guys should see some of the ROM hacks people have made for Nintendo's games. They aren't issuing C&Ds, surprisingly. I agree with Ash, the creators of that game can consider themselves lucky that Square Enix didn't sue. Square Enix could have sued them for millions of dollars on copyright infringement. It is copyright infringement and it is a form of pirating games. The fine would be $150,000 for willful copyright infringement, just so you know. |

So was CE. They used a lot of things from Chrono Trigger to develop the game. Watch the videos at CEMemorial's channel to see for yourself.

They would have sued if the Compendium had not complied with their demands. They put up videos of a playthrough between reaching 98% completion and the C&D in the YouTube channel.
GO WATCH IT, IT IS A KICKASS GAME AND SQUARE ENIX SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED BUYING EVERYTHING THE COMPENDIUM ACTUALLY OWNED REGARDING CRIMSON ECHOES AND RELEASING THE GAME THEMSELVES.

They made the Frozen Flame sprite, for one. Wish I could say that wasn't all they actually made from scratch.

BTW I should state that it's only copyright infringement if the project was being made for profit, which Crimson Echoes wasn't. These people weren't going to make a penny off this project, which at the very least is legal as fan fiction.
